Pool Service & Cleaning

Pool Maintenance and Servicing

You bought a pool to swim in, not to test. We take the brushing, the chemistry, the filter and the equipment checks off your list entirely — and because we build pools for a living, we catch the things a cleaning-only service drives past.

Swimming Pool Servicing

Having fun in your pool should be your only concern. Ours is making sure that's how it stays.

Aquarius Pools of the Upstate looks after swimming pools across Greenville, Greer, Spartanburg and the surrounding Upstate — gunite and vinyl liner, salt and chlorine. Choose a bi-weekly or monthly plan and we are there on the same day every time, keeping the water balanced, the filter clean and the equipment running the way it should.

And if something does go wrong, your pool won't be out of action for long. We repair pumps, filters, heaters, lights, automation and pool electrical ourselves, so one phone call covers all of it. Whatever the issue or the request, we're the same people you already know.

What's Included in Every Visit

Cleaning

Brushing walls, steps, benches and tanning ledges · vacuuming the floor · skimming the surface · emptying skimmer and pump baskets.

Water chemistry

Testing and balancing chlorine, pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness and stabilizer · adding what your pool needs that visit · salt level and cell check on salt-chlorinated pools.

Filtration

Filter cleaning on the schedule your system needs · backwashing or cartridge cleaning · checking pressure against normal, which is how a dirty filter announces itself before it becomes a problem.

Inspection

Pump, filter, heater, chlorinator and automation checked for correct operation · water level, skimmer throat and returns · a look at the finish, tile, coping and deck for anything starting to go wrong.

Pool Care Through an Upstate Year

01
Spring: pollen

In late March and April, the Upstate turns yellow. Pine pollen lands on every pool in Greenville and Spartanburg Counties, and it does more than look bad — it feeds algae and burns through chlorine while the filter loads up with it. This is the hardest stretch of the year for water clarity here, and it's when pools with neglected filters go green. Through pollen season we watch filter pressure closely and clean more often than the calendar would suggest.

02
Summer: heat and thunderstorms

High water temperatures, heavy use and afternoon storms. Heat accelerates chlorine loss, swimmers add their own demand, and one storm can drop the chemistry and fill the pool with debris in an hour.

03
Fall: leaves

Leaf fall clogs skimmers and baskets and will stain a plaster finish if it sits. Baskets emptied and surfaces brushed every visit — this is the season a pool under trees shows whether it's being looked after.

04
Winter: the freeze

Upstate winters are mild enough that many pools stay open and cold enough that a hard freeze will crack a pump housing, a filter or a heat exchanger if the system isn't protected. Freeze protection settings, run times and equipment checks matter more in January than anything else on this list.

"Kevin and his team are wonderful to work with. Kevin does not cut corners. He builds pools with the highest quality materials and equipment. He treats every customer with kindness and care. I highly recommend Aquarius Pools of the Upstate. We love our new pool!"

"Owner, Kevin Ward mustered the individuals to help create a beautiful pool. A travertine supplier, a great brickie to install the stone, a pool liner specialist, a firm that digs and removed tons of material, electricians, pool equipment plumbing - a complex dance that yielded a happy customer. Heartily recommend Aquarius Pools of the Upstate."

"On the coldest day of 2022 I woke up to find my pool half empty. No one that I usually worked with was available. Aquarius pool was recommended to me and they were here in 30 minutes. They fixed the busted pipe and taught me how to avoid another freeze that night. They were concerned and genuine. Thank you!"

"Amazing!! Can’t recommend highly enough. Quickly returned phone call and came out next day to look at Intellichlor system which we thought might need replacement. This system is new to us and they gave us an education and fixed the problem. The owners, Kevin and Kevin were gracious and so helpful! They will be our “go to” pool guys going forward!"

"Aquarius Pools replaced our liner and we are very happy we chose them! Kevin was very responsive throughout the entire process, answering all if my questions in a very timely manner. They went above and beyond to make sure our pool was working properly, the liner was replaced correctly, and did it all ahead of schedule. Their workmanship is top notch and I would use them again for any pool needs!"

"Excellent customer service and our pool looks great! We got quotes from several companies but ultimately decided to go with Aquarius, even though they were not the cheapest, because they were the most professional from the get-go! Kevin and Kevin both sat down with me and explained the quote and the process. Communication has been super easy and that they have been back to check on my pool several times and make sure that we are happy!"

"Kevin was great to work with. Excellent communication and fair pricing. Great quality work! We have used several pool companies in past years, but we will be sticking with this company from now on!"

"The 2 Kevin’s are Top Notch ! We had a Diving board removed , Fountain installed, New Liner and new vacuum. The pricing was excellent! The work performed was awesome! The communication was amazing! Would definitely recommend and will use them again!"

FAQs

Everything you need to know about pool maintenance and servicing. Can’t find the answer you’re looking for? Please chat with our team.
How often does a pool need servicing in South Carolina?
Most Upstate pools do well on a bi-weekly visit with a working automatic cleaner and sound equipment. Heavy tree cover, heavy use or no cleaner may need more. Spring pollen season is the exception for everyone.
Do I need to be home?
No. We need access to the pool and the equipment pad — a gate code or an unlocked gate is all it takes.
Do you service pools you didn't build?
Yes. We can service any pool, regardless of who built it. We repair and service pool equipment installed by other companies too.
What if you find something broken?
We tell you, quote it separately, and do nothing until you approve it. Repairs go to our own crew, not a third party.
What areas do you cover?
Greer, Greenville, Spartanburg and the surrounding Upstate.
