How Aquarius Started

Aquarius Pools of the Upstate was founded in 2022 by Kevin Ward and Kevin Jones, for a simple reason: the Upstate needed a pool builder people could trust with a project this size.

A pool is one of the largest things most families will ever have built at their home. It is also one of the easiest to get wrong, and one of the hardest to put right afterward. The two of them had seen enough of both to know what kind of company they wanted to run — one where the people making the promises are the same people doing the work.

That is still how it works. Kevin Ward is on site most every day of a build, and every pool we take on is one we would be happy to have in our own backyard.

Our team

Kevin Ward, Owner

Kevin Ward brings over 29 years of project management in the construction industry to every Aquarius Pools build, including work with a premier gunite pool builder here in the Upstate.

His background covers the things that decide whether a pool project goes well or badly long before anyone sees water: pools themselves, grading and drainage, retaining walls, and underground utilities. On the sloping, rocky lots this part of South Carolina is made of, that is not a bonus — it is the difference between a build that goes to plan and one that finds its problems on dig day.

It is also why he is on your property rather than on a phone. Craftsmanship problems get caught the day they happen, and the person who can make a decision about them is standing there to make it.

Kevin Jones, Co-Founder

Aquarius Pools was started by two people. Kevin Jones was the other one.

As Sales Manager, he was the person most of our customers met first. He sat at kitchen tables across the Upstate, listened to what families actually wanted out of a backyard, and turned it into something that could be drawn and built. A great many of the pools we are proudest of began as a conversation with Kevin.

We lost Kevin far too soon. The company he helped build carries on, and so does the standard he set for how customers should be treated.

How We Work

We build a limited number of projects

Fewer jobs at once means real attention on each one, and it is the reason the owner can be on your site rather than managing from a distance.

We design around your property

Grade, drainage, rock, tree lines and where the afternoon sun lands are all assessed before a single line is drawn.

We say what things cost, and what is included

One written proposal, with the allowances and exclusions stated before anyone digs.

We stay.

Most of our customers keep us on afterward for service. That is the point — we would rather be the company you call for the next fifteen years than the one that disappears after the final payment.
